Monthly Cleaning Calendar

I’m not sure how people keep those super tidy houses.  Well, yes I do actually.  They have cleaners and maids that come to their house weekly or twice a week.  In a former life, I was a nanny and I saw this first hand.  Spotless homes (insert chef’s kiss here)!  My house is not spotless as we do not have any home cleaners hired at this point.  In order to get our house a bit tidier, I came up with a plan with my husband to break down our household to-dos into Daily, Weekly, and Monthly tasks and from there I created a monthly cleaning calendar to help us stay up to date on cleaning tasks.

First, I came up with a list of the important things that needed to be cleaned daily.  Think empty the dishwasher, wipe down counters and for us, laundry needs to be run daily.  Then I came up with the things that need to be done just once a week like toilets, sinks, sweeping the carpets, dusting and mopping.  Lastly, the big jobs, but things that don’t need to be done that much like the windows, cleaning out the fridge, wiping the baseboards and the cabinets.

Next Steps:  Cleaning Calendar Development

Next, I went into my favorite design program, Canva, and whipped up our customized January cleaning calendar.  I know we complete every single task on here, but my goal was to break it down into a manageable thing that we could do to keep our house a little cleaner.  Because keeping a house clean with two small people and a dog is tough!  I hope that this visual gives us something to work off of and also can help to instill some responsibility into the kids.  We want to get them involved in some tasks too.

If you would like our January 2022 cleaning calendar, click this link.  This is the link from Canva and it can be printed on a standard 8.5 x 11 paper or cardstock.

If you’d like to edit this calendar to include your own tasks or change things up, use this link.  You can download a free version of Canva and make the changes.

Time will tell, but I’m fully hoping that this lovely calendar will help us get our cleanliness together.  I’ll be sure to provide an update next month with an updated calendar as I’m sure I’ve missed something!

Cheers to the New Year and trying to get our lives together and trying to keep the house tidy or tidier than it has been.  Hit me up if you’ve got any tips or kept your own cleaning calendar.
